From the Editor

September is National Yoga Month. For some of us, yoga month may be an everyday experience, yet this designated time offers us a number of opportunities to celebrate and explore the practice.

This past weekend, I saw the remarkable film, Faith Connections, on the big screen. Today is the final day to see Pan Nalin’s documentary following some surprising and heart-warming stories that played out during the 2013 Kumbh Mela. I loved following the wry words of Yogi Baba and the quote from the householder pilgrim who insisted, “You can pray in any clothes.” Go see the film tonight at the Laemmle Music Hall Theater in Beverly Hills and mention LA YOGA for $6 tickets.

Whether we wear the clothes of a monk, yogi, householder, renunciate, spiritual seeker, or everyday person, we can pray. This is a powerful reminder, and for many of us, one of the reasons why we practice. We get on our mats to pray.

The year offers us a number of potent cycles, including this weekend’s fall equinox, when we can step into the action of balance. This weekend, at locations from Loyola Marymount University andAgape to the Awareness Festival and the Santa Monica Pier, there are a number of opportunities to practice with others, to celebrate peace, to commit to yoga month, and to pray in any costume.

Enjoy the Moments,

Felicia
